Responsibilities
The job responsibilities of the Financial Aid Compliance Intern include, but are not limited to:
Accountability
- Assist with compliance testing in a variety of areas, which may include student file testing, institutional eligibility, enrollment reporting procedures, and cash management
- Review student files to assess compliance with Title IV federal regulations, including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), institutional enrollment documentation, academic transcripts, and student ledger cards
- Prepare audit workpapers, analyze supporting documentation, perform recalculations, and document audit findings
- Develop a working knowledge of AI applications and their practical use in audit services
- Build practical skills in compliance auditing, documentation, professional communication, critical thinking, and working with financial aid regulations
Leadership

- Participates in client meetings and internal team meetings to gain exposure to the full audit process, understand how audit teams communicate with clients, and learn about internal processes and team collaboration
Management
- Works closely with an assigned mentor, typically a Senior Accountant or Supervisor, and other members of the audit team in a collaborative environment throughout the internship
Location
- The Financial Statement Audit Intern position is in-office preferred, headquartered at 1370 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, PA
Qualifications
Required
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Available to work approximately 25 hours per week, January through April
Preferred
- Coursework in auditing or financial accounting
- Interest in pursuing a career in public accounting or audit
Compensation
Pay: $20 per hour
Academic Credit: Eligible for academic credit, in coordination with your school’s policies and requirements
