: Audit Intern
As a McClintock & Associates intern, you will be continuously learning and applying accounting principles and concepts to enhance the wellbeing of our clients. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide technical excellence, value added services, guidance, solutions and regulatory expertise.
Your internship will also enable you to participate in internal initiatives to help you understand the day-to-day operations of a public accounting firm. This may include aspects of strategic planning, employee and department training, as well as involvement within one of our various task forces.
Most of your technical responsibilities will align within our audit department where you will receive opportunities to apply classroom knowledge to real-world audits. You will also receive training on how to conduct financial aid audits for our clients within the postsecondary education industry. Lastly, you may be asked to assist our tax department with preparing various aspects of individual and corporate returns. More details of your responsibilities are included below.
General:
- Develops a working knowledge of internal workflow procedures, best practices, and firm software
- Develops an understanding of the firm’s vision, core values, mission statement and strategic objectives
- Basic knowledge and understanding of accounting principles
- Gathers and organizes client information as necessary
- Develops technical and business writing capabilities
- Communicates honestly and respectfully with all team members
- Accountable for setting and achieving individual goals that support departmental and firm goals
Audit:
- Perform testing of student files
- Perform basic testing of institutional and accounting areas as outlined in the audit programs
- Assist in writing of basic reports
Experience:
- No previous accounting experience required.
- Pursuing a degree in accounting or finance is generally preferred but not required.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles

Working Conditions:
- Expected to work ~25 hours/week
- Eligible for academic credit in conjunction with school policies and requirements
